Chicago Tribune: 9/11 survivor reminds others of police sacrifice: 'I owe my life to their bravery'

Speaking to people gathered for the Munster Police Department's Memorial Service Thursday, Dyer resident Don Bacso said he owed police officers his life.

On Sept. 11, 2001, Bacso was on a temporary work assignment on the 57th floor of New York's World Trade Center Tower 1 when it was struck by a commercial airplane in terrorist attack. He feels fortunate to have escaped the destruction just floors above him, and continues to speak to groups about the experience
